Filitz, Margie Jane (4 March 1960 – 21 April 2017)
Margie Filitz, 57, of Neillsville died Friday, April 21, 2017, at the Memorial
Medical Center in Neillsville.
Margie Jane Filitz was born March 4, 1960, at home in Granton, the daughter of
Judson and Lucille (Schmidt) Phipps. She graduated from Granton High School in
1978, and was united in marriage to Frankie D. Filitz Jan. 19, 1979, at the
United Church of Christ in Neillsville. Her parents owned Judi’s Corner Café in
Granton. Where she helped out. Later, Margie and her daughter Candi would
operate the café under the new name of J. C.’s Bar and Grill. While running the
café, Margie and Frankie also farmed on Poertner Road in the Town of Levis. In
2001, they sold the café. Margie continued to help with farming and she held
various jobs in the area. Most recently, she cleaned at Stone’s Throw Restaurant
in Hatfield until her health forced her to retire.
She was a member of the Central Wisconsin Country Dancers, and a past member of
the Saddle Tramps Horse Club. Her hobbies included bowling, darts, horses,
fishing, and tending to her flowers.
She is survived by her husband Frankie, daughter Candi Hericks of Neillsville
and two grandchildren, Phoenix Hericks, and Kali Hericks, both of Neillsville,
brother Tommy (Robin Schmitt) Phipps of Granton, sister Nancy Wagner of
Marshfield and nieces and nephews, Anthony (Enya Patterson) Phipps of Granton,
Jason (Jennifer) Phipps of California, Francis (Lorraine) Wagner of Abbotsford,
and Charlotte Wagner of Colorado.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and a nephew Arthur Wagner.
A memorial service for Margie will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, April 28, 2017, at
the Gesche Funeral Home in Neillsville. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Thursday and from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Friday at the Gesche Funeral Home.
Interment will be in the Neillsville City Cemetery at a later date.
