The Mike Wingert family, members of the Brighton Rec Neps 4-H, have had as their
guest for the past week, Rita Kemmer of Manchester, Michigan.
Rita is a 4-H interstate exchange girl. There were a total of 39 4-H'ers from
the area of Michigan spending the week in Wood, Portage and Marathon County
homes. The purpose of the program is to try to live a normal family life in a
totally different area, to get acquainted with new and different 4-H ideas, and
of course to make new and probably lasting friendships.
On Thursday evening, the George Lansford family near Wausau hosted a picnic for
all the Michigan boys and girls and their host families, which Mr. and Mrs.
Wingert and Rita attended.
On Thursday, July 6th, Miss Michelle Wingert, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Mike
Wingert will leave for Chicago to stay with a 4-H family there.
It is part of the 4-H interstate exchange program.
There will be about 16 Marathon County young people who will stay about a week
seeing the sites of Chicago and discovering what family life and 4-H is like in
the big city..
