Amelia Bahr

Funeral services for Mrs. Ferdinand Bahr, age 87, who died Friday, were held Tuesday afternoon. The Rev. E. E. Malueg of Milan conducted a German service at 1:30 at the home and an English service at 2 o’clock at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Milan. Interment followed in the Lutheran cemetery.

Pallbearers were Fred and Herman Denzin, Martin Ellingson, Earnest Kramer, Charles Schmidt and Albert Hoeft.

Amelia Aust was born in Zinten, Germany, May 8, 1853. She was married there July 25, 1876 to Ferdinand Bahr. In 1891, they came to America, made their home in Waukesha for 13 years and then came to their farm east of Milan where they lived until 1925 when they retired and moved to Milan.

On July 25, 1936 Mr. and Mrs. Bahr celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary at which their children, grand-children and great-great grand-children were present. Two years later on March 1, Mr. Bahr died.

Mrs. Bahr has been in feeble health for several years and seriously ill the past two and a half weeks. Her daughter, Mrs. Amelia Harry, had cared for her mother as well as her father. Death came Friday evening at 6:10 caused by old age and heart failure. Mrs. Bahr would have been 88 years old today.

The deceased was a pioneer resident of Milan community, a charter member of the Milan Lutheran church.

She is survived by one son, Fred, who lives on the home place, Town of Johnson; five daughters, Mrs. Edward (Augusta) McKee, Hebron; Mrs. Amelia Harry, Mrs. George (Anna) Blank, Milan; Mrs. George (Emma) Krueger, Athens; and Mrs. Louis (Louise) Johnson, Wauwatosa. Eighteen grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren also survive. All the children attended the funeral except Mrs. Johnson who was in Mexico at the time of her mother’s death and unable to attend.

Among those from away who attended the funeral were: Mr. and Mrs. Ed McKee and family, Town of Holton; Mr. and Mrs. Fred Bahr and family, Mr. and Mrs. Walter McKee and daughter, Sharon, Corinth; Mr. and Mrs. George Krueger and family, Athens; Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Swenson and son, Galen, Boulder Lake; Mr. and Mrs. Otto Gerlach, Minneapolis; Mr. and Mrs. Albert Warner, daughter, Jalene, and Joseph Black, Green Bay; Mr. and Mrs. Henry Eggebrecht and family, Wausau; Mr. and Mrs. Anton Jari, Mr. and Mrs. Louis Jari, Medford; Mr. and Mrs. Charles Engel, and son, Raymond, Mrs. Edward Stelzel, Abbotsford; Mr. and Mrs. Gustav Eggebrecht, Mrs. Otto Krueger, Mr. and Mrs. Leo Bruss, Mrs. Hattie Burmeister, Mr. and Mrs. Ben Stremer and son, Edmund, Mr. and Mrs. F. C. Busche, Mrs. Koepke, and Mrs. Frank Beran and family, Mr. and Mrs. Ted Woznac, Mr. and Mrs. Albert Braun, Adolph Gerlach, Miss Mary Bucholz, Gustav Bucholtz, all of Athens; Mr. and Mrs. Charles Underwood and son, Lyle, Goodrich.
