Ampe, Achille "Archie" (29 AUG 1889 – 23 JUL 1972)
Funeral services were held for Achille "Archie" Ampe, 82, Loyal (Clark Co.,
Wis.), who died Sunday, July 23, 1972 at Memorial Hospital, Neillsville. The
services were at Wednesday, July 26, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Anthony's Catholic
Church, with the Rev. N.E. King officiating. Burial was made in the parish
cemetery.
Achille Ampe was born August 29, 1889 at Antwerp, Belgium. As a child he moved
to France with his parents. After his marriage in 1913 to Jeanne Morlet in
Paris, France, he resided in France for one years, and moved to the United
States in 1914. They moved to Glenwood City, Wisconsin where they farmed until
1916, when they moved to Thorp (Clark Co.), where they farmed. In 1924 they
moved to Loyal township and farmed until 1946. They then moved to the City of
Loyal, where he retired in 1959.
He was a member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church, Loyal.
Survivors include six daughters, Mrs. Walter (Lucille) Hohl, Greenwood; Mrs.
Reuben (Ruth) Gotter, Marshfield; Mrs. Odette Larson, Greenwood; Mrs. Arlyn
(Helen) Ewert, Spencer; Mrs. Ray (Alice) Riertson, Boon, Iowa; Mrs. Russell
(Pauline) Haupt, Granton; one son, Paul Ampe, Loyal; 30 grandchildren, 32
great-grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Albertine Sepeque, Paris, France, and one
brother, Mr. Prospre Ampe, France.
He was preceded in death by his wife, two sons, and seven brothers and sisters.
