Mehler, Cora (1894 – 13 AUG 1972)
Funeral services for Cora Mehler, a former school teacher and government
employee, were held Wednesday, August 16, at the Arlington Funeral Home in
Arlington, Va. Mrs. Mehler died Sunday, August 13, 1972 at the Hermitage, a
retirement home in Alexandria, after a long illness.
Mrs. Mehler was born south of Loyal (Clark Co., Wis.) on a farm owned by Mr. and
Mrs. George Castner in 1894. She graduated from Loyal High School and taught
schools near Loyal and Greenwood, and also worked in the bank in Greenwood. She
worked as a secretary for the Internal Revenue Service for 30 years, and was a
graduate from the La Cross Business College, La Crosse, Wisconsin.
She was a member of Mt. Olivet Methodist Church, Arlington.
Mrs. Mehler is survived b four sisters, Mrs. Jeanette Jacobson of Marshfield,
Wis.; Mrs. Frona Kauffman of Alexandria; Mrs. Edith Wichman of Spencer, Wis.,
and Mrs. Vaida Coates of Woodruff, Wis.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Mrs. Ethel Boe, Loyal, and also a
brother, John Castner, of Marshfield.
