Wagner, Nancy L. (14 AUG 1943 – 22? MAY 2017)
Nancy Lee Wagner (Phipps), age 73 of Granton, passed away peacefully, with
family members by her side, at Stoney River Memory Care in Marshfield.
Nancy was born in Neillsville, WI on August 14, 1943, the daughter of Judson and
Lucille (Schmidt) Phipps. She was a graduate of Granton High School. In 1961,
she married Raymond John Wagner and began their lives together in West Bend, WI.
In the coming years, she became the mother of 2 sons, Francis and Arthur, and a
daughter, Charlotte. In the early 70's they moved to Colorado, and a few years
later to Texas. Settling in Odessa, Nancy helped her husband establish Wagner
Manufacturing and Fabricating Co. - an oilfield welding and repair service. Ray
ran the field work, while Nancy ran the office and shop. In their spare time,
they enjoyed watching rig-ups, watching the Odessa Jackalopes play hockey, and
taking short day trips around West Texas. They also devoted time and effort to
helping the Permian High School Booster Club, donating equipment, and helping
with the annual Football Booster Book. After 46 years of marriage, and 33 years
in business together, Ray passed away in 2008. Nancy then found her way to
Arizona to live near her son, Arthur. After a short time, she decided to return
to her hometown of Granton to be with her family. Throughout her life, she was
known to be independent, strong-willed and outspoken, dubbing herself "ornery."
She enjoyed music, playing in bands and teaching others the piano and accordion.
She enjoyed reading, cooking and baking, crocheting, and other hand crafts. She
loved cats, and watching the birds at her bird feeders, especially hummingbirds.
She is survived by her children: Francis (Lorraine) Wagner of Abbotsford and her
daughter Charlotte "Charlee" Wagner of Montrose, CO; her grandchildren: Rachel,
Kristin and Elizabeth ; her brother Tom Phipps (Robin Schmitt); her
brother-in-law Frankie Filitz of Neillsville; her niece Candy Filitz; her
nephews: Jason Phipps and Tony Phipps (Enya Patterson) and many friends and
relatives.
Nancy is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Ray, her son Arthur, and
her sister Margie
