Wagner, Wayne R. (24 MAR 1935 - 19 MAY 2017)
Wayne R. Wagner, 82, of Withee, passed away on Friday, May 19, 2017 at Aspirus
Wausau Hospital, where he had been a patient for the past 1 week.
Memorial services will be held at 5:00 PM on Wednesday, May 24 at Hemer Funeral
Home, Medford, with Rev. Andy Davis officiating.
Visitation will be held from 3:00 PM until the time of services at 5:00 PM on
Wednesday, May 24 at Hemer Funeral Home, Medford.
Wayne was born on March 24, 1935, at Mishawaka, IN, to Marguerite A. (Wagner)
Bollin. He attended Mishawaka, IN elementary and High School.
His first marriage was in 1967 at Mishawaka, IN, to Roseann M. Zeleznik, and
they were later divorced. His second marriage was on May 12, 1979, at Medford,
to Constance “Connie” M. Higgins, and she survives.
After his education, he entered the US Navy and was a veteran of the Korean War.
After the service, he resided in Indiana and moved to the Lublin area in 1972
where he farmed for a period of time. He did some home improvement work for a
period of time. Worked for Indianhead Action Agency until ill health forced his
retirement. He enjoyed camping, catfish fishing, slow-grilling BBQ ribs,
painting and wood carving. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. Of
all these things, his greatest pride was being a Papa to his grandchildren, as
he readily admitted being a grandpa was much more fun and he was better at it.
Wayne is survived by his wife, Constance “Connie” M. Wagner, Medford; children
Richard (Staci Sparks) Wagner, Chippewa Falls; Bill Wagner of Nekoosa; Vicky
(Brent) Stewart, Thorp; Laurie (Kevin) Danen, Eau Claire; 2 step-sons; 10
grandchildren; 3 step grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; 1 step great
grandchild; siblings Robert “Bobby” Sult and Norma Sult both of South Bend, IN.
He is predeceased by his mother, Marguerite A. (Wagner) Bollin; and siblings
James Sult and Harley Sult, Sr.
