Junior Kiwanian Brady Wegner (May - 2017)

May Junior Kiwanian

Brady Wegner

With the end of the 2016-17 school year, the Neillsville Kiwanis Club welcomed its last Junior Kiwanian of the year, as Brady Wegner was introduced to the club by Kiwanian Herman Seebandt at the May 15 meeting. Wegner is a graduating senior at Neillsville High School and is the son of Bryan Wegner and Jill Gilewski. As with the other Junior Kiwanians selected this year, his future looks very promising, and he has helped prepare himself for the challenges of advanced education, and beyond, by participating in numerous activities and making the most of his high school career.

Wegner is a member of the National Honor Society, the Spanish Honor Society, and president of the Spanish Club. He has participated in choir and band throughout high school, and place well in solo and ensemble competitions. He is this year’s John Philip Sousa recipient. Wegner has participated in school musicals and plays, forensics competitions, Quiz Bowl, community theatre and the Dorian Choir Festival. Other notable activities include FFA, Badger Boys State representative, Creative Writing Club president, student council, prom court, and homecoming king. Sports have also played a part in this student’s activities, as he has been a member of the golf and track squads. Additionally, Wegner has volunteered at the American Legion, and the CART Center.

As you would expect with this well-motivated student, he is making plans for the next step in his academic life, and will be attending UW-Madison to pursue a degree in Spanish language.

The Junior Kiwanian program gives recognition to outstanding students like Wegner who have demonstrated strong academic achievement, shown good leadership qualities, and strive to make use of their talents. Through their participation in the Junior Kiwanian program, students are provided an introduction to the concept of a service organization such as Kiwanis International, which encourages active participation in the community throughout the lifespan.

The Neillsville club wishes Brady Wegner and the Neillsville graduating class of 2017 success in their future endeavors.
