The following letter was received by Mrs. Vern Gardner of Rt. 1, Greenwood
(Clark Co.), Wisconsin.
Dear Mrs. Gardner:
It is with a great deal of pride and pleasure that I inform you that you son,
Roderick, while stationed at Fort Jackson, South Carolina, during the period
from 5 September 1972 to 26 October 1972 has been selected as the outstanding
graduate of the Wheel Vehicle Mechanic Course.
Throughout Roderick's eight weeks of training, he demonstrated an outstanding
ability to cope with many challenging problems and unfamiliar situations.
Roderick's superior performance was unsurpassed in his class.
You son has successfully transformed himself into a highly trained and extremely
competent soldier, of whom you can be justly proud. Roderick's accomplishments
reflect great pride upon himself and his family, as well as the United States
Army.
