Petkovsek, Yvonne M. (31 JUL 1944 – 6 JUN 2017)
Yvonne M. Petkovsek, 72, Greenwood, passed away on Tuesday, June 6, 2017, at
Ministry Saint Joseph’s Hospital in Marshfield. Funeral services were held at
10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, June 13, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Greenwood. Rev.
Steve Brice officiated. Burial followed in St. Bernard’s Catholic Cemetery in
Thorp.
Yvonne Marie Lobacz was born on July 31, 1944, in La Crosse, the daughter of
Stanley and Eleanore (nee Turenne) Lobacz. She was raised and received her
education in the Owen/Withee area, graduating from Owen-Withee High School in
1963. Yvonne married William “Bill” Petkovsek on Aug. 13, 1966, at St. Hedwig’s
Catholic Church in Thorp. They lived in Greenwood where they owned and operated
the Y.O.W. store. She also worked as a nursing assistant at the Neillsville
Nursing Home for more than 20 years. For the last two years, she resided at the
Neillsville Care and Rehab facility. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic
Church and the Greenwood American Legion Auxiliary. Yvonne loved people, always
had a smile on her face, and loved to talk to everyone. She will be dearly
missed by her family.
She is survived by her husband, Bill, of 50 years; three daughters: Tammy
(Chuck) Niles of Marshfield, Kelly Petkovsek of Eagan, Minn., and Melanie (Josh)
Gerhard of Eagan, Minn.; seven grandchildren: Tony Petkovsek, Amanda Niles,
Brittany Niles, Makayla Petkovsek, Jacob Gerhard, Malia Gerhard, and Noah
Gerhard; four brothers: Roy (Netta) Lobacz of Pleasant Prairie, Roger Lobacz of
Arlington, Texas, Allen (Pandora) Lobacz of Irma, and Bill Lobacz of Sacramento,
Calif.; one sister: Toni Hall of Fort Worth, Texas; and several nieces, nephews,
other relatives and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and one son, Michael, in infancy.
