Petkovsek, Yvonne Marie (31 July 1944 – 6 June 2017)
Yvonne M. Petkovsek, 72, of Greenwood passed away at Ministry St. Joseph’s
Hospital, in Marshfield Tuesday, June 6, 2017.
Yvonne Marie Lobacz was born July 31, 1944, in La Crosse. Her parents were
Stanley and Eleanore (Turenne) Lobacz. She was raised and received her education
in the Owen-Withee area, graduating from the Owen/Withee High School in 1963.
Yvonne was united in marriage to William “Bill” Petkovsek Aug. 13, 1966, at St.
Hedwig’s Catholic Church in Thorp. They lived in Greenwood where they owned and
operated the Y.O.W. store. She also worked as a nursing assistant at the
Neillsville Nursing Home for more than 20 years. For the last two years, she
resided at the Care and Rehab-Neillsville facility.
She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and the Greenwood American Legion
Auxiliary.
Yvonne loved people, always had a smile on her face, and loved to talk to
everyone. She will be dearly missed by her family.
She is survived by her husband, Bill, of 50 years; three daughters, Tammy
(Chuck) Niles of Marshfield, Kelly Petkovsek of Eagan, MN, Melanie (Josh)
Gerhard of Eagan, MN; seven grandchildren, Tony Petkovsek, Amanda Niles,
Brittany Niles, Makayla Petkovsek, Jacob Gerhard, Malia Gerhard, and Noah
Gerhard; four brothers, Roy (Netta) Lobacz of Arlington, TX, Allen (Pandora)
Lobacz of Irma, and Bill Lobacz of Sacramento, CA; one sister, Toni Hall of Fort
Worth, TX; several nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and one son, Michael, in infancy.
Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 13, 2017, at St. Mary’s
Catholic Church in Greenwood. Fr. Steve Brice officiated, lunch followed at the
American legion, and burial followed in St. Bernard’s Catholic Cemetery in
Thorp. Visitation was held at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Greenwood Monday,
June 12, 2017, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. and again at the church Tuesday from 9:30
a.m. until the time of service.
