Schuh, Roger Earl (14 JUL 1941 - 7 JUN 2017)

Roger Earl Schuh, age 75, of Mondovi, died Wednesday, June 7, 2017, at Mayo Clinic Health Systems in Eau Claire.

Roger was born on July 14, 1941, in Owen, the son of Anthony and Geraldine (Shelley) Schuh. He attended and graduated from Colby High School in 1959, and later graduated from Juneau County Teachers College in 1971, and UW-Stevens Point in 1973. He taught sixth grade in the Mondovi School District from 1973 to 1996. He coached basketball and football for many years and was a member of the Wisconsin Basketball Association.

Roger served in the U.S. Army from 1962 to 1969 and also in the reserves from 1969 to 1986. Roger played in the U.S. Army band during his active years.

Roger married Barbara Underwood on Nov. 27, 1963, in Wausau. She preceded him in death on Jan. 14, 2013.

Roger was a member of the Mondovi American Legion and was the 10th District Chaplain, State of Wisconsin Oritorcal chairman, as well as the Sons of the American Legion. He was also a very proud member of the Brothertown Indian Nation, the 40 et 8 club, Vietnam Veterans of Wisconsin, Am Vets and was the receipent of the Mondovi Citizen of the Year award in 2002. Roger enjoyed teaching kids, coaching and singing.

Roger is survived by his four daughters, Michelle (Glen) Miller of Mondovi, Rhonda (Daniel) Tollefson of Eleva, Pamela (David) Gray of Gilmanton and Brenda Accola of Mondovi; six grandchildren, Amber, Stephany and Mariah Miller, Cheyenne (Dylan) Steiner and Madison Gray and JJ Accola; five great-grandchildren, Zachary, Alanah, Maylinn, Zara and Lizzy; two great-grandchildren on the way; seven siblings, Judy (Lee) Underwood, Richard Schuh, Jean (Tom) Klimowski, Lois (Jim) Asplund, Larry (Patsy) Schuh, Nancy Brown and Tom Schuh; a sister-in-law, Judy Underwood; many nieces and nephews; and other relatives.

Roger was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Barbara, of over 49 years; and a infant brother, Jerome.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be directed to the family in his memory.

A funeral service was held at the Talbot Funeral Home, 679 Hehli Way, Mondovi, on Monday, June 12, 2017, at 1 p.m. Rev. Dennis Kuehling presided. A visitation was held at the funeral home on Sunday, June 11, 2017, from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. and also on Monday from 12 p.m. noon until the time of service. Cremation rites will be accorded and burial will take place on Thursday, June 15, 2017, at 2 p.m. at the Riverside Cemetery in Mondovi.
