Maria McLaughlin Collier, whose death was chronicled in this paper last week,
was born in Ireland in 1849 and came to this country at the age of 15 years,
with her parents and settled in Ohio, later moving to Waupaca Co., Wis.
On Dec. 2, 1872, she was married to George Collier at New London, Wis. The
couple immediately came to Colby, Wis., where they resided for 46 years. To this
union was born five children, Charles H., Harry C. Rolls, C., and Mrs. R. B.
Johnston, all of Oakland, Cal., and George, who died at the age of one year and
eight months.
Since the death of her husband in 1920, she made her home with her daughter,
Mrs. R. B. Johnston in Oakland.
Mrs. Collier was a charter member of the W. R. C. of Colby.
Funeral services were held in Oakland on Sunday, Aug. 31, and at the M. E.
Church in Colby on Friday afternoon, Sept. 4th.
