Kowalewski, Carol J. (7 JAN 1942 – 16 JUN 2017)

Carol Jean Kowalewski, age 75, of Spencer, passed away on Friday, June 16, 2017 at her home.

Funeral services will be held at Spencer United Methodist Church, 108 Burnett Street, at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 21, 2017. Reverend Mike Carlson will officiate. Burial will take place at Colby Memorial Cemetery at 3:00 p.m. Visitation for family and friends will be from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service at the church on Wednesday.

Carol Jean Kowalewski (Engel) was born on January 7, 1942, to her biological parents Harvey & Ella Sischo at Wausau WI. At the age of four she was adopted by her father's sister and her husband Marvin and Nina Engel of Spencer WI. She was raised in Spencer and educated in the Spencer school system.

Carol had many careers in her life starting with working at her parents business Englewood Nursey in Spencer. She also did waitressing, retail clerk, nurse's aide in hospitals and nursing homes, owned her own business called Carols Treasure Chest in Spencer, and worked at Land-O-Lakes. She then went back to school and became a Drug & Alcohol Counselor for Clark County then worked as a drug & alcohol counselor plus program manager for Wood County Unified Services. She also worked for Kwik Trip in Spencer before retiring.

She married Chester Kowalewski in 2000 and moved to Hazelhurst on Lake 17. They returned to Spencer in 2012 to be with their Daughter Michelle Ehlert (Nelson) & Family.

She is survived by her daughter Michelle (Shelly) Ehlert and a Son-in-law David of Spencer. Four Grandchildren Eric, Dakota, Logan, Hope Ehlert of Spencer. Two sisters Sharon Englebrecht of Wausau, Diane Reinhart of Goodridge. Five brothers Harvey Sischo (Jennifer) Arizona, Roger Engel of Marshfield, Lyle Klemp Jr. (Susan) of Antigo, Gary Klemp of Sheboygan, Allen Klemp of Green Bay; and many nieces, nephews and good friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband and best friend Chester (Chet) Kowalewski on July 16, 2015, her biological parents Harvey Sischo, Ella Klemp, her adopted parents Marvin & Nina Engel, two sisters Joannie Lake, Kathleen Landwehr. Also two Nieces and one nephew.
