More than 70 persons were in attendance at the party held at the Woodland Hotel
for Chief Adolph Haavisto. The affair was held in recognition of his long period
of police service to the city of Owen (Clark Co., Wis.), and as a county deputy.
On the eve of his retirement, effective July 1, 1968, members of the Clark
County Law Enforcement Agency, the Owen Businessmen's Club, and city officials
honored him with awards and recollections of his untiring efforts and devotion
to his responsibility. He received large plaques from the law enforcement group
and the city officials', while the Owen Businessmen's Club presented him with a
hunting rifle.
Mrs. Haavisto will leave Sunday for their new home at Floodwood, Minnesota, and
will be joined by Adolph on the 1st of July.
