Funeral services for Mrs. Alfred Neff were conducted yesterday afternoon,
Wednesday, June 26, 1968, from the United Church of Christ, Owen, with burial
being made at Riverside Cemetery. The parish pastor, Rev. Robert E. Goessling,
was in charge of the service, while Joe Adams, Hugo Walter, Lewis McNitt, Wm.
McNitt, Anthony Ciszewski and John Wagner were pallbearers.
Mrs. Neff passed away at her farm home in the town of Longwood (Clark Co., Wis.)
on Sunday, June 23, 1968, after being ill with pneumonia. She was advanced in
years, and until just recently had been quite active for her 97 years, 7 months
and 25 days of age.
Born October 28, 1870 near Appleton, she received her education and later taught
high school. In 1893, and still living at Appleton, she and the late Alfred Neff
were married, and son thereafter moved to their present farm home in the town of
Longwood, as hew as engaged in the lumbering industry.
For 38 years she served as Sunday School teacher in her Longwood parish, and
several years ago was made an honorary member of the First Congregation Church
in Owen, now the United Church of Christ. For 38 years she served as a
correspondent for the Owen Enterprise.
A host of friends of long standing mourn her passing, as do two sons, Chester,
with whom she made her home, and Hugh of Eagle River, and a daughter, Hazel Neff
of Milwaukee.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 1923, and a daughter, Emily, in
1927.
