Krueger Cases Moved; Court Calendar Cleaned Up (29 May 1919)

Circuit court has been grinding slowly during the past week, but a very considerable portion of the calendar has been cleaned up slick as a whistle, those cases which did not come up for a trial being either dismissed or nolled. A.F. Sheets was acquitted of the charge of trapping without a license and E. Putman was not found guilty of running a car without lights while intoxicated. The Hickman Bros. and Caspar Karpinski were convicted of assault and battery and fined $25 each and costs. Milton Whitman was also convicted of selling liquor to a minor.

All the damage cases against Caroline Krueger have been sent to Stevens Point on a change of venue and it is possible that they may have a speedy hearing there. The case of C.W. Lawrence vs. Rahm Bros. growing out of the shipment of a car of potatoes was decided in favor of the Rahm Bros.

The jury cases which are scheduled for hearing this week are as follows: Sereno Wren vs. Thomas Wren; Chris Vates vs. Adolph Koepke; Ben Krom vs. J.H. Kollert; Amos N. Sisco vs. Fred Fisher; in the matter of the estate of W.H. Mott, deceased; Plano Mfg. Co. vs. George Sheridan, et.al.; W.F. Dahlke vs. Chas. Haltaufderheide.

On Tuesday the jury was dismissed, as the balance of the jury cases will be tried by Judge O’Neill, the jury having been waived in each of them. The case of Crambilt vs. Town Hixton was completed with a verdict which is practically in favor of the town. The suit was one for $5,000 brought on account of personal injuries. A decision in the Wren vs. Wren case was given, the plaintiff winning the case.
