Powers, Rueben C. (14 DEC 1890 – 20 JUN 1968)
Services were held at Lake Thornberg Funeral Home in Prairie du Chien on
Saturday, June 22, 1968, for Reuben C. Powers, who died June 20, 1968 in
Lutheran Hospital, La Crosse. Rev. W.K. Bodamer officiated. He was buried at
Riverside Cemetery Sunday, June 23, 1968, following funeral services conducted
by Rev. Robert Goessling from the United Church of Christ in Owen.
Rueben C. Powers was born in rural Menomonie on December 14, 1890. He came to
Owen (Clark Co., Wis.) as a young man with his family, where they became well
known for their pure bred Guernsey herd. Upon leaving farming, he served for
over 20 years as country supervisor for Farmers Home Administration in Dunn,
Buffalo and Crawford Counties.
His marriage to Theresa Marking took place in Milwaukee, September 9, 1946. They
made their home in Prairie du Chien, where, during retirement years he was owner
of Powers Accordion Studio and became widely known for his work among young
people.
Left to mourn his passing are his wife, Theresa, a brother, Elwin, a sister,
Mrs. Thomas J. Haas, and many relatives and friends.
