Collinson, Elna R. (25 NOV 1932 – 24 JUN 2017)
Elna R. Collinson, 84, Neillsville, passed away on Saturday, June 24, 2017, at
the House of the Dove in Marshfield. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on
Wednesday, June 28, at the York Center United Methodist Church, rural Granton.
Rev. Patsy Roe will officiate and burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Pallbearers will be David Vieth, Jamison Walker, Christopher Walker, Robert
Collinson, David Collinson, and Donald Stage. Visitation will be held at the
church, on Wednesday, from 11 a.m. until time of service.
Elna Ruth Haldeman was born on Nov. 25, 1932, in Norwalk, to Bert and Elizabeth
(nee Vieth) Haldeman. She was raised and received her education in the Norwalk
area, and graduated from Norwalk High School. After completing high school, Elna
attended Luther Hospital School of Nursing in Eau Claire. She began her career
as a registered nurse in Illinois, later moving to La Crosse and then finally
settling in Marshfield, where she was a dedicated nurse in the Oncology
Department at St. Joseph’s Hospital for more than 30 years. Elna married Leroy
A. Collinson on May 31, 1975, at the United Methodist Church in Loyal. They
farmed together in the Spencer area for many years, before retiring and moving
to Neillsville. She had many interests, but especially loved spending time with
family and friends, traveling and camping.
Elna will be dearly missed by her husband, Leroy, of Neillsville; four children:
Kathleen Nieman of Nekoosa, Michael Collinson of Neillsville, Steven (Rebecca)
Collinson of Steelville, Mo., and Linda (Ed) Esselman of Chili; 13
grandchildren; two sisters: Doris Vieth of Sauk City, and Leora (Edwin) Walker
of Spencer; one brother-in-law: Harold (Marliss) Collinson of Curtiss; and many
nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two sons-in-law: Don Zimmerman and
Jerry Nieman; her father- and mother-in-law: George and Edith Collinson; and
brothers and sisters-in-law: George (Doris) Collinson, Lloyd (Lois) Collinson,
Florence (Merle) Stage, Reva (Edward) Streich, Vada (Earl) Falconer, and Robert
Vieth.
