Beyer, Heinz Walter (10 JUL 1925 – 28 JUN 2017)

Heinz Walter Beyer, age 91, of Marshfield, Wisconsin passed away Wednesday, June 28, 2017 at Clark County Living and Rehabilitation Center in Owen, WI.

Funeral services will be held at 2 pm on Saturday, July 1, 2017 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Marshfield, with Rev. David Faulkner officiating. Burial will take place in Gate of Heaven Cemetery where military rites will be conducted by the American Legion Post 54 of Marshfield.

Visitation will be held on Friday, June 30, 2017 from 5-7 pm at Rembs Funeral Home and again on Saturday, July 1, 2017 from 1 pm until the time of service at Immanuel Lutheran Church.

Heinz was born on November 1, 1925 in Berlin, Germany to Emil and Erna (Bohl) Beyer. In 1929, the family immigrated to the United States and settled in Marshfield, Wisconsin. He attended school in Marshfield and graduated in 1943 from Marshfield Senior High.

Heinz was employed by his father as a farmer from 1943-1953. He entered the military service and served in the U.S. Army from Dec. 1953 to Dec. 1955. He received his citizenship papers on March 12, 1956. After his discharge from the Army, he worked at Mel’s Body Shop as an auto body repairman in Marshfield until 1957. He then worked at Hughes Brothers, which later became Mid-State Truck Service. He stayed at Mid-State as the body shop manager until 1988, at which time he retired.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, berry picking, attending auctions and tinkering in his garage. In his later years, Heinz and Mary traveled each winter to Yuma, Arizona, where he enjoyed walking in the desert and volunteering at the Habitat for Humanity.

On June 17, 1961, he was united in marriage to Mary Specht at St. John’s Catholic Church in Marshfield.

He is survived by his wife, Mary; children Carol Beyer of Marshfield, WI; Susan (Leonard) Horban of Phillips, WI; Mary Bunge (fiancé, Michael Lindquist) of Marshfield, WI; David Beyer of Marshfield, WI; and Gerald (Amy) Beyer of Merrill, WI. He is further survived by seven grandchildren: Matthew, Nathan, Haley, and Hannah Beyer, Kimberly Beyer, Makayla and Noah Bunge; sisters: Elly Mueller, Betty Jensen, Ruth Korth, Mary (George) Kuethe and brother: Carl (Karin) Beyer; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother’s Ervin (at infancy) and Alfred, son-in-law Timothy Ledden and one grandson, Justin Beyer.
