With U.S. Combat Air Forces, Vietnam – Captain Donald J. Petersen, son of Mr.
and Mrs. James Petersen of rural Owen (Clark Co., Wis.), has received his second
award of the U.S. Air Force Commendation Medal at Tan Son Nhut AB, Vietnam.
Captain Petersen was decorated for meritorious achievement as an administrative
officer at Tan Son Nhut. He was cited for his outstanding leadership aid
managerial ability.
The captain, a 1953 graduate of Withee High School, received his A.B. degree in
1957 from St. Olaf College, Northfield, Minn., where he was commissioned upon
completion of the Air Force Reserve Officers Training Corps Program. He received
his M.A. degree in 1967 from the University of Southern California.
His wife is the former Julie Olaves from Venezuela.
