Martin, Octavia M. (2 AUG 1879 – 22 AUG 1968)
Mrs. Felix Martin, 89, succumbed to complications of old age at her home on
route 2, Owen (Clark Co., Wis.), at 9:30 o'clock Thursday, August 22, 1968.
Funeral services were conducted Monday a.m. from the Holy Rosary Church here,
with Father H.L. Crubel officiating. Burial was made at Riverside Cemetery, with
Ray Slock, Bert Ebert, Ted Stegeman, Owen Melin, George Telford and Sam Munson
serving as pallbearers, while August Slock was an honorary pallbearer.
Mrs. Martin, nee Octavia Marie Scheemacker, was born, August 2, 1879 in Belgium,
where she was united in marriage to the late Felix Martin on September 11, 1906.
He preceded her in death February 10, 1967. The couple came to the united States
that same year, first settling in Moline, Illinois, where they remained until
1919, when they came to this community, making their home on a farm north of
Owen.
She is survived by a son, Martin, route 2, Withee; a daughter, Mrs. Madeline
Weyhe, route 2, Withee; a granddaughter, Mrs. Edward Weyht, Culver City,
California, and a great-granddaughter, also of Culver City.
