Jacobson, Richard L. Sr. (6 August 1933 – 27 June 2017)

Richard L. Jacobson Sr., 83, Pittsville, died Tuesday June 27, 2017, at his home in the Town of Sherwood, Clark County, with his children by his side.

Richard was born Aug. 6, 1933, in the Town of Sherwood to Joseph and Theresa (Gary) Jacobson. He married Mildred M. Neeley Sept. 12, 1953. They divorced, and reunited later in life. He also married Mildred (Milly) Wenstrom July 18, 1970; she died Oct. 22, 1993.

He was employed at Elco Tool and Screw Industry in Rockford, IL, for 42 years, until his retirement in the mid-1990s. he then returned to Sherwood where he resided until the present time.

He enjoyed wood cutting, deer hunting, fishing, and trips to the casino. He had served on the board for the Town of Sherman and was involved with the NWTF for 10 years.

He is survived, by Mildred Meltesen, and their children, Richard (Kristal) Jacobson Jr. of Pittsville, Tina (Allen) Bernhardt of Tomah, Terry (Randy) Gratz, Ken Jacobson (Sandy Frost), all of Pittsville, and Scott (Tamesha) Meltesen of Marshfield. He is also survived, by 14 grandchildren: Jessica (Matt) Montag, Jennifer Jacobson, Jason Jacobson, Scott (Melinda) Bernhardt, Aaron Bernhardt, Kris (Adam) Caflisch, Alecia (John) Nelson, Brandon Jacobson, Kalie (Ramiro) Robles, Brianna (Jared) Moore, Destiny Jacobson, Lindzy Meltesen, Lacey Meltesen and Dakota Meltesen; 16 great-grandchildren; step-children: Judy Willis, Jim (Chris) Wenstrom, Jeanne West, John (Melody) Wenstrom, and Joe (Carol) Wenstrom; 15 step-grandchildren; 22 step-great-grandchildren, and one step-great-great-grandchild. He is further survived, by brothers, Russell Jacobson of Pittsville, Earl Jacobson of Rockford, IL, and Jerry (Alene) Jacobson of Pittsville.

He was predeceased, by his parents, daughter Vicki in infancy, sister Dorothy Schwanebeck, and brother George “Lavern” Jacobson.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Friday, June 30, 2017, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Town of Sherwood, where the visitation was from 10 a.m. until service time. Rev. Gary Markworth officiated. Private family committal service will be held in Sherwood Cemetery at a later date. Buchanan/Rembs Funeral home is assisting the family.
