Turczyn, James Andrew (7 July 1959 – 29 June 2017)
Jim Turczyn, 57, of Neillsville passed away Thursday, June 29, 2017.
James Andrew Turczyn was born July 7, 1959, in Neillsville and was the only son,
and youngest child of Andrew and Jean (Wikary) Turczyn. He graduated from
Neillsville High School in 1977, and then took over the family farm. He was
united in marriage to Becky Ortwig in 1987, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in
Neillsville. They later divorced in 2004. Jimmy and Becky had four children who
were raised on the family farm. In 2003, he decided to sell the dairy cows for
beefers; Salers and Highland cattle - as well as go back to school to pursue an
associate’s degree in nursing from Wisconsin Rapids. After earning his degree,
he began working at Neillsville Care and Rehabilitation Center while continuing
to take care of the farm and animals.
Jim was a life-long member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Neillsville. He was
very proud of his Polish heritage, and enjoyed cooking Polish meals for his
family. He was a talented cook, and excelled on the grill, using the grass fed
beefers he raised as well as the deer he harvested while hunting. As hard as he
worked on his career and farm, Jim also enjoyed his downtime. He found happiness
in motorcycle rides, car shows, and fishing and hunting, but the greatest joys
in his life were his children who visited frequently for movie nights, and
family time.
He is survived, by four children, Samantha Turczyn of Lake Villa, IL, Andrew
Turczyn of Menomonie, Katharine Turczyn of Neillsville, and Theodore Turczyn of
Neillsville, also, four sisters, Mary Lawson of Madison, Gloria Trotta of
Neillsville, Elizabeth (Bruce) Boyer of Neillsville, and Carol (Steve) Short of
Neillsville. He is also survived by many nieces, and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Andrew and Jean Turczyn.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Jim will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, July 7, 2017,
at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Neillsville. The celebrant will be Rev. Varkey
V. Joseph. Vicente Cortez, organist and St. Mary’s Choir will provide music.
