A former Owen (Clark Co., Wis.) man has been promoted to the rank of Major. He
is Thomas George, son of Mr. and Mrs. Wm. George of Turtle Lake, and son-in-law
to Mr. and Mrs. Ray Missling of rural Withee.
He was formally promoted to the rank of Major in the U.S. Army on August 26,
1968. Col. William Pixly, M.C. Commander of Medical Training Center at Fort Sam
Houston, Texas promoted Major George in the presence of fellow officers, his
wife Gloria and two daughters, Shannon and Tara.
Major George, a career officer, is presently the Chief of Plans and Operations
at the training center.
He has served a tour of duty in German and Vietnam, and is now stationed at Fort
Sam Houston.
