Hollman, Myron K. “Mike” (10 JUL 1928 - 6 JUL 2017)
Myron K. Hollman “Mike”, 88, Wausau died Thursday July 6, 2017 at Wisconsin
Veterans Home at King, Waupaca.
Mike was born July 10, 1928 to the late Fritz and Esther (Genrich) Hollman in
Wausau. Early in his life he joined the U.S. Navy, after, he reenlisted with the
U.S. Army and again afterward the U.S. Air Force, where he served most of his
career. He served in WWII, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War where he earned
the Bronze Star. He served in all three branches honorably, retiring after 28
years of service.
Mike was an avid fisherman and had many fond memories of fishing with his son,
Russ. After his retirement, Mike concentrated on being a single parent, raising
his two daughters, Mara and Michelle. He was an active volunteer at Riverview
Elementary during his daughters’ school years. Mike enjoyed golfing at the
American Legion, now Tribute Golf Course, scoring a hole in one in 1992! He also
loved spending time bowling, gardening, woodworking and traveling.
Survivors include his son Russ (JoAnn) Hollman; two daughters, Mara Hollman and
Michelle Hollman Palmer; six grandchildren, Spencer, Dalton, Ethan, Seth (Taralea)
Hollman, Shari (Matt) Palmeri and Shawn (Matt) Schliewe; brother, Leonard
(Barbara) Hollman; sister, Virginia “Ginger” Dennison; and two foster sisters,
Cindy Parmer and Kathy (Jim) Krueger.
He was also preceded in death by the mother of his son, also mother of his
daughters; his brothers, Milton and Gerald; and his step-father, Ervin
Schmutzler.
Funeral services will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday July 11, 2017 at
Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home 1302 Sixth St., Wausau. Chaplain Wayne Schwanke
will officiate. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. until the time of service at
the funeral home.
Veteran Honors will be given by the American Legion- Honor Guard Post 10,
Wausau. Entombment will take place at Restlawn Memorial Park, Wausau, at a later
date.
