Kofler, Leonard J. (17 MAR 1924 - 6 JUL 2017)

Leonard J. Kofler, 93, of Rib Lake, passed away on Thursday, July 6, 2017 at Aspirus Care and Rehab in Medford.


Leonard was born on March 17, 1924 in Rib Lake to Virgil and Mary (Hartman) Kofler. He is a graduate of Rib Lake High School. He married Emily M. Szczurek on Nov. 29, 1947 at St. John the Baptist Church in Rib Lake and she preceded Leonard in death on Jan.15, 2017.


Leonard worked for Hurd Manufacturing and Gem Products on the production lines. He also owned a dairy farm in Rib Lake with his wife, Emily. He enjoyed listening to polka music and playing horseshoes and was active in several horse shoe leagues in Rib Lake. He was a member of Good Shepherd Catholic Church and the Catholic Order of Foresters.

Leonard is survived by his children, Marie (Dale) Lindwall of Wausau, Michael (Kathy) Kofler of Prentice and Peter Kofler of Marshfield; eight grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren, and sisters, Leona Kellerman and Monica Kofler.


Leonard is further preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Vickie Wudi; and siblings, Augustine, Ervin, Lawrence, Caroline and Cecelia.


A private funeral mass was held on Monday July 10 at Good Shepherd Catholic Church with Father Otto Bucher officiating. A Mass of Christian burial will follow at Lakeview Cemetery.
