Szutkowski, Doris A. (Wolter) (26 JAN 1923 - 12 JUL 2017)
Doris A. Szutkowski, 94, formerly of Bowler, died on Wednesday, July 12, 2017 at
The Homme Home of Wittenberg.
Doris was born in Bowler on Jan. 26, 1923, the daughter of the late Arthur and
Annette (Malueg) Wolter. On July 29, 1943, Doris was united in marriage to
Joseph "Butch" Szutkowski at St Florian's Catholic Church in Hatley and he
preceded her in death on Oct. 19, 1993.
Doris was a faithful member of Holy Family-St. William Catholic Church, and it's
Christian Mothers. She was a member of the Bowler Homemakers Club and worked on
the Village of Bowler Election Board. Doris loved gardening and especially
enjoyed flower gardening. She played the organ and enjoyed local concerts. Doris
had a love of cooking for her family and friends, and enjoyed dancing with her
favorite partner, her husband Butch. She instilled a love of reading in her
children starting with reading the Sunday comic strips.
Survivors include one son, Joseph (Jodi) Szutkowski of Clintonville; three
daughters, Carol Canfield of Medford, Susan (Richard) Onesti of Eland and Jane
(Michael) Hazen of Shawano; seven grandchildren, Angela, Amy, Rick, Rachel,
Collin, Sarah and Kayla; six great-grandchildren, Jacob, Elizabeth, Kyra,
Parker, Cassandra and Alexandra; and many other friends and family.
In addition to her parents and husband, Doris was preceded in death by her
sister-in-law, and five brothers-in-law.
A Mass of Christian burial was held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, July 15 at Holy
Family St. William Catholic Church in Wittenberg with Fr. John Gallagher and
Deacon Mike Brandt officiating. Interment took place at Holy Family Cemetery in
Wittenberg. Visitation was held on Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. at Schmidt and
Schulta Funeral Home in Wittenberg, and again on Saturday from 10 a.m. until the
time of the mass at the church.
