Phipps, Anthony Russell “Tony” (13 December 1969 – 10 July 2017) With Flag
Tony Phipps, 47, of Granton died Monday, July 10, 2017, in a vehicular accident
east of Granton.
Anthony Russell Phi8pps was born Dec. 13, 1969, in Neillsville, the son of Tommy
Phipps and Wendy Anderson. He graduated from Loyal High School in 1988, and then
attended Mid-State Technical College in Wisconsin Rapids for auto-body repair.
After finishing school, he worked on auto-bodies for a while, and then went into
logging and running a sawmill with his father. Later, he worked for Mark Schmitz
for about eight years at Country Builders making kitchen cabinets. Then, for
nine years, he worked at the John Bauer Pallet Company. During that time, in
1997, Tony formed his own company, O’Neill Creek Sawmill and Pallet Works, which
he was currently operating.
In his little spare time, he enjoyed tinkering with anything that had a motor.
He is survived by his significant other of 18 years, Enya Patterson; his father,
Tom (Robin Schmitt) Phipps of Granton; his mother, Wendy (Larry) Markow of
Janesville; a brother, Jason (Jennifer) Phipps of San Diego, CA; three aunts,
Letha, Chris, and Amy; an uncle, Frankie, and many cousins.
He was preceded in death by four aunts, Margie, Nancy, Colleen, and Lola.
A memorial service for Tony was held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, July 18, 2017, at the
Gesche Funeral Home in Neillsville. Pastor Terry Marg officiated. Visitation was
from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Gesche Funeral Home.
