Barager, Irving C. (22 SEP 1890 – 28 DEC 1968)

Funeral services for Irving C. Barager, 78, of 309 McKinley Avenue, Eau Claire, were held at 3 p.m. Tuesday, December 31 at the Congregational Church, with the Rev. Robert L. Thoma officiating. Burial was made at Forest Hill Cemetery at 11 a.m. Thursday, January 2, 1969.

Mr. Barager, an Eau Claire resident for 50 years, died Saturday, December 28, 1968 at Luther Hospital, after an illness of two days.

Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Owain J. Hughes, North Little Rock, Ark., Mrs. Irving E. Wittenberg, Onalaska; and one brother, M.E. Barager of Seattle, Washington. The deceased was an uncle of J.R. Barager, City (Owen, Clark Co., Wis.).

Mr. Barager was born in Washburn, Wis., September 22, 1890 and lived much of his boyhood days in Withee (Clark Co.). On June 29, 1923 he was married to Charlotte Fitzgerald of Richland Center.

He graduated from Marquette University in 1913 and was a veteran of World War I.

Mr. Barager was president of Barager-Webster and Co. from 1918 to 1923, and owner of Exito Chemical Co. from 1937 to 1957. He was also a member of the Wisconsin Pharmaceutical Association, First Congregational Church, Masonic Lodge 112 F & AM., and the American Legion.
