Downing, Clifford H. "Butch" (27 SEP 1901 – 30 JAN 1969)
Clifford H. "Butch" Downing of 3638 E. Plankinton Ave., Cudahy, a former
resident of Owen (Clark Co., Wis.), died at Trinity Hospital, Cudahy, on January
30, 1969.
Born at Cadott on September 27, 1901 he moved to Owen in 1907. Here he attended
grade and high school and worked at the John S. Owen Lumber Co. and the Owen Box
and Crating Co. He was a charter member and president of the Carpenter and
Joiners Union. He moved to Cudahy in 1943, where he was employed by Stoddark
Quirk Co. for the past 26 years. He became semi-retired in 1968. He was a
charter member of the machinist union for the past 19 years.
He is survived by his wife Nina (Knebel) Downing; a son, Galen, and a daughter,
Mrs. Frank (LaVerne) Zielinski, all of Cudahy; two grandchildren; four nephews
and a host of other friends and relatives.
Funeral services were conducted at the Nero Funeral Home at Cudahy, with Rev.
Paul Kaiser officiating, and burial was made at Forest Hill Memorial Park, South
Milwaukee.
