Hautamaki, Vandy (18 AUG 1921 – 27 FEB 1969)
Vandy Hautamaki, 47, of route 2, Stratford, died at 8:30 p.m. Thursday, February
27, 1969, at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Marshfield, where he had been a patient
since February 5. Death was due to complications.
Funeral services were conducted at 10 a.m. Monday at the Hanson Chapel by the
Rev. Walter Schultheiss, pastor of Faith Lutheran Church.
Pallbearers at the final rites were Ernest Piper, Robert Buss, Dennis Wilson,
Donald Miller, Peter Miller and Jerry Quelle.
Military rites at the graveside were in charge of the VFW Post of Stratford,
with John Morzinski Jr. sounding “Taps.”
Mr. Hautamaki was born August 18, 1921 at Owen (Clark Co., Wis.), where he also
received his education. He was married June 19, 1954 in Wood County to Esther
Weber. He lived in Owen until 1954, when he moved to Stratford and operated a
turkey farm.
He was a veteran of World War I, and was a member of the Veterans of Foreign
Ward, Stratford Post 6352.
Survivors include his wife; three brothers, William, Reino and Edward, all of
Owen; and four sisters, Mrs. Eino (Ella) Kivisto, Negaunee, Mich.; Mrs. Sylvia
Wilson, Mrs. Jerry (Evelyn) Quelle and Mrs. Oscar (Esther) Buss, all of Owen.
