Hoefs, Darlene R. (Schade) (28 APR 1938 - 25 JUL 2017)

Darlene R. Hoefs, age 79, passed away on July 25, 2017 at Wisconsin Veteran’s Home in King, WI. She was born on April 28, 1938 in Spencer, WI to the late Edelhardt and Ruth (Schwantes) Schade.

Darlene attended school in Spencer, WI. After school, she worked various jobs including waitressing and cooking, where she used her love of cooking to eventually open her own restaurant, The Spencer Café and Bar.

She married Donald Charles Hoefs on May 14, 1960. He preceded her in death on Feb. 23, 2017.

She is survived by her children: Mark Hoefs, Madison, WI, Dawn (Tracy) Hoeye, Marshfield, WI, Lorie (Antoine) Saad, Phoenix, AZ, Linda Viets, Thorp, WI, Jane Kappel, Marshfield, and Brian Hoefs of Spencer, WI. She is also survived by her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, two brothers, numerous nieces and nephews and an Aunt.

She is preceded in death by a son Dean Hoefs, a grand-daughter, Kelsey Viets her parents and 2 siblings.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been set up at the Veteran’s Home in King. Donations will go to the Ainsworth Hall where Darlene lived for the past 3 ½ years, to help support their Alzheimer’s Unit.
