Tegen, Walter H. (1 AUG 1932 - 25 JUL 2017)
Walter H. Tegen, 94, Kennan resident died on Tuesday, July 25, 2017, at the
Aspirus Pleasant View Nursing Home, Phillips.
He was born on April 14, 1923, in Kennan, the son of Carl and Helen (Arndt)
Tegen. He was a lifelong resident of the Kennan area. He attended the Johnson
Grade School and then Phillips High School. He was married to Elizabeth A.
Winter on January 1, 1952, in Kennan. They recently celebrated their 65th
wedding anniversary.
He was employed as a logger and dairy farmer in the Town of Kennan for many
years until the time of his retirement.
He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Kennan, involved in many agricultural
committees, was in the Farmers Union, a 4-H Leader, and a member of the Dusty
Roads Saddle Club. In his free time he enjoyed hunting, woodworking, cabinetry,
growing flowers, and especially spending time with his family and friends.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years Elizabeth, Kennan, by 4 children: Sandra
(Bill) Menge, Phillips, Henry (Angela) and Charles, all of Kennan, and Vivian
Watter, Elderon, WI, by 6 grandchildren, 2 Great Grandchildren, and 1 sister:
Evelyn Heise, Madison, WI.
He was preceded in death by his parents, by 2 sisters: Bertha Sheffer and
Dorothy Tegen, and by 1 son Harvey.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, July 31, 2017, at the
Zion Lutheran Church, Kennan, with Pastor John Trewyn officiating. Inurnment
will be in the Kennan Cemetery, Kennan. Friends may call at the church on
Monday, July 31, 2017, from 10:00 A.M. until the time of the service.
