Schimon, Frances “Fran” D. (Coates) (9 SEP 1947 - 1 AUG 2017)
Frances “Fran” D. Schimon, 69, of Medford, passed away on Tuesday, Aug. 1, 2017
at Aspirus Wausau Hospital, where she had been a patient for the past two weeks.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 5 at Holy Rosary
Catholic Church in Medford with Father David Neuschwander officiating.
Visitation will take place at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Medford from 8:30
a.m. until the time of the services on Saturday. Interment of her cremated
remains will take place at Molitor Catholic Cemetery at a later date.
Fran was born on Sept. 9, 1947 in Oak Park, Ill. to the late Frances Cecilia
Joda and William Frank Coates. She attended St. John Bosco Elementary/Middle
School in Chicago, Ill. and was a 1965 graduate of Chicago Public High School.
On Feb. 3, 1971 in Ironwood, Mich., she married Raymond “Ray” A. Schimon and he
preceded her in death on Jan. 25, 2016. After her education, she worked in the
payroll department at Sun Electric in Chicago. They moved to the Town of
Goodrich in 1971, where they farmed and co-owned/operated Schimon’s Goodrich
Auto with her husband. Ashe also worked as an after-hours answering service for
Taylor Electric for many years. She enjoyed spending time with her family,
crafting of all kinds, garage sales, word puzzles, her pet cats and collecting
dolls. She was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Medford.
Fran is survived by her children, Brad (Marie) Schimon and Mary Hessefort, both
of Goodrich; four step-children and numerous step-grandchildren/great
grandchildren, all of the Pacific Northwest area of Washington; two
grandchildren, Liam and a soon to arrive sibling; and sister, Patty Linders of
Tacoma, Wash.
In addition to her parents and husband, Fran is preceded in death by her son,
Jeffery Schimon in 2010; and son-in-law, James Hessefort in 2009.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be given to the
family for a future designation.
