Suttner, Paul J. (19 JUL 1922 - 6 AUG 2017)

Paul J. Suttner, age 95, of Abbotsford, passed away on Sunday, Aug. 6, 2017, at his daughter’s house in Marshfield.

A memorial Mass will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 10, 2017, at St. Bernard Catholic Church in Abbotsford. Father Charles Hiebl will preside. Interment will be held at a later date at St. John the Baptist Catholic Cemetery in Johnsburg.

Family and friends are welcome from 9 a.m. until the time of service Thursday at the church. The Maurina-Schilling Funeral Home in Abbotsford is entrusted with the arrangements.

Paul was born on July 19, 1922, the son of Joseph and Mary (Eckes) Suttner in Charlesburg. Paul was united to Helen Casper on June 9, 1949, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Johnsburg. She preceded him in death on July 3, 1985.

Paul had a passion for cheese making. He started his cheese making career at 15 years of age and worked at various cheese plants: Lake to Lake Dairy, Marathon-Clark Coop, North Central Dairy, and Pleasant-View. Paul and Helen purchased the Four Corners Cheese Factory in 1971. Paul continued to work in the cheese factory until the age of 86. He had a strong work ethic and positive attitude. He always would see the best in people.

Paul also enjoyed fishing, playing cards, hunting, and traveling to various parts of the world. He had a great love of God and for his family, ending each conversation with “Love you all and God Bless!”

Paul is survived by seven children, Linda (Dennis) Schommer, Dennis (Pattie) Suttner, Christine (Bill) Stone, Joan (Tom) Breden, Sandra (William) Zuiker, Lisa (Timothy) McBride and Pamela (Steven) Thielman; 18 grandchildren, Tara (Ryan) Subera, Brooks (Jackie) Schommer, Hallie Xistris, Jennifer (John) Becker, Matthew Suttner (Given Hutman), Ann (Rob) Jacobs, Julie (Cameron) Konkle, Elizabeth Breden, Timothy Breden, Peter Breden, Nicholas (Elizabeth) Zuiker, Cale Zuiker (Tatum Sterba), Lucas Zuiker, Connor McBride, Helen McBride, Wyatt Thielman, Kiefer Thielman and Paul Thielman; and 18 great-grandchildren. He is further survived by a brother-in-law, Gerald Krug; many nieces and nephews; and other family members and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Helen; and six siblings, Cyril (Thelma) Suttner, Herbert (Rosetta) Suttner, Tharsilla (Donald) Brandl, Dolores (Hugo) Schaefer, Rosemary Suttner, Emily (Gerald) Krug, Edna (Oscar) Schoenborn, Marie (Ambrose) Andrew, Valeria (Herbert) Schoenborn, Sally (Gordon) Pitzen and Martina (Alvin) Schmitz.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Paul’s name.
