Rogstad, Sherry Ann (23 May 1954 – 6 August 2017)

Sherry A. Rogstad, 63, of Breckenridge, CO, formerly of Granton, passed away at the House of the Dove in Marshfield Sunday, Aug. 6, 2017.

Sherry Ann Lavey was born May 23, 1954, in Neillsville to David and Beverly (Rollins) Lavey. She was raised and received her education in Granton, graduating from Granton High School in 1972. After high school, Sherry worked at the Marshfield Clinic until her marriage Aug. 17, 1974, to Dennis L. Rogstad at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Loyal, where she worked at Medical Associates as an administrative assistant. They later moved to Marshfield in 1976, where Sherry worked for Dr. Robert Kay, DDS, and then for LeMoine Shoes as a sales clerk. They moved to Loyal in 1978, and then to Wausau in 1986, where she worked at Wausau Insurance. In 1992, they relocated to Macomb, MI, where Sherry worked at Information Resource Group as an executive assistant until 2003, at which time they moved to Grafton, where she worked at Ozaukee Bank as administrative assistant to the president. In 2008, they moved to Breckenridge, CO, where she was employed as the administrative assistant to the CEO of Northwest Colorado Council of Governments until retiring in June 2016.

She was a former member of St. Anthony Catholic Church in Loyal, St. Anne’s Catholic Church in Wausau, St. John Vianney Catholic Church in Shelby Township, MI, St. Francis Borgia in Cedarburg, and most recently, a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Breckenridge, CO.

Sherry has been active and involved in many activities throughout her life, including a cheerleader, and played the clarinet in high school, was a former Granton Fall Festival Queen, was Miss Congeniality for the Clark County Fairest of the Fair as a sophomore, and was a class officer all four years in high school. She taught Catechism to local high school students and was involved as a volunteer with her church. Sherry also actively embraced her role as a wife and mother, with her constant presence as a supportive figure in all their endeavors. She attended every basketball and softball game, where her cheerleading (and referee criticizing) skills were used without reservation. She promoted events at her daughter’s school through her involvement with the athletic booster club, and she was a charter member of the Cool Moms Club. After her cancer diagnosis, she counseled other breast cancer survivors. She was also active in Relay for Life, and breast cancer walks.

Shery had many interests, but especially loved spending time with family and friends. Supporting her husband and daughter was a treasured pastime, and she did so unfailingly. She loved to travel, and spend time at the beach, particularly if she had a good book, and a Malibu and Coke in her hands. She loved reading and music, and she encouraged others’ passion for these activities. She also enjoyed movies, and playing cards with her family and friends. She was a favorite shopping buddy of her daughter, and a fervid supporter of the Packers, Badgers, and Brewers. She also loved her pets, including her dog Sophie, and two cats, Maverick and Goose.

Sherry will be dearly missed by her husband, Denny, of Breckenridge, CO; her daughter, Jill Rogstad Bruvold (Ryan) of Eden Prairie, MN; her mother, Beverly Lavey of Granton; her sister, Shelly (Larry) Schultz of Spencer; two brothers, Jeff (Peggy) Lavey of Mesquite, TX, and Mark (Cheryl) Lavey of Franklin, TN; her mother-in-law, Hazel Rogstad of Loyal; her brother-in-law, Terry (Marilyn) Rogstad of Gainesville, VA; her sister-in-law Nancy Achenbrenner of Marshfield; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her beloved father; her father-in-law, Vernon Rogstad; and her brother-in-law, Steven Rogstad.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 11, 2017, at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Loyal with Rev. Steve Brice, and Rev. James Logan concelebrating. Burial will follow in Windfall Cemetery in Granton. Visitation will be held at St. Anthony Catholic Church Thursday, Aug. 10, 2017, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. and again at the church Friday, from 10 a.m. until the time of the service.

Pallbearers will be Michael Rogstad, Sean Rogstad, Denny Rollins, Kevin Schultz, Justin Lavey, and Chuck Darrow. Honorary pallbearers will be Jeff Lavey, Mark Lavey, Ryan Bruvold, Terry Rogstad, and Larry Schultz.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be given to the House of the Dove in Marshfield or the American Cancer Society.
