Kangas, William M. (13 APR 1907 – 2 SEP 1969)
Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 6, 1969 at 2:00 p.m. at the
Hoeper and Kraut Funeral Home for William M. Kangas, 62, route 1, Owen (Clark
Co., Wis.), who passed away September 2, 1969 at the Marshfield convalescent
Center due to a brain tumor. John W. Prussie of Champion, Michigan will
officiate, and burial will be made at Riverside Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Art Himes, Lester Himes, Ensio Bjorn, Rodney Bjorn, Uno
Kolpanen and Peter Jensen.
Mr. Kangas was born April 13, 1907 in DeKalb, Ill., and married Ella Winamaki on
June 23, 1939 in Waukegan, Ill. He has been the Town Clerk of Longwood (Clark
Co.( for 23 years, Director of Warner Mutual Insurance Company for 15 years,
Chairman of AAA Committee, Member of the Black River Rod and Gun Club, and
Director of Withee Shipping Association. He was a diary farmer in the town of
Longwood until he retired last year.
Survivors include his wife Ella; two daughters, Mrs. Melvin (Esther) Luke,
Waukegan, Illinois; Sandra Kangas, Waukegan, Illinois; three brothers, Edward,
Franklin, Wis.; Richard, Milwaukee; Edwin, Hughson, Calif.; and two
grandchildren. One sister, Mrs. Martin (Esther) Taulu preceded him in death one
year ago.
