Haas, LaMoine (15 AUG 1885 – 3 SEP 1969)
LaMoine Haas, a longtime resident of the Withee area (Clark Co., Wis.0, died
Wednesday evening, September 3, 1969, at the Havenet Nursing Home, Owen, after
several years of illness.
She was born August 15, 1885 in the community of Forest Center, near Menomonie,
Wisconsin. She was one of five children born to Charles and Anna Powers. She
moved to Owen in 1908 with her parents, brothers and sister.
On October 21, 1914 she was united in marriage to Thomas Haas. To this union
were born five sons.
Mrs. Haas was a school teacher for many years. She graduated from Dunn County
Normal School in 1906. She taught school at Forest Center and Meridian in Dunn
County. After moving to Owen she taught school at the Bright School, Munson
School, Moody School, and the Owen Public School. In 1943 she returned to
teaching for three years at Spring Valley School. She was a member for many
years of the Methodist Church in Withee.
After some years of failing health, Mrs. Haas entered the Havenet Home in Owen
in November 1961.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas, who died April 5, 1969; a
sister, Maisie Johnson in 1957; and a brother, Reuben Powers in 1968.
She is survived by her five sons: Thomas, Salina, Kansas; Lloyd, Clearwater,
Florida; Kermit, Council Bluffs, Iowa Gerald, Minneapolis, Minn.; and Charles,
La Crosse, Wis. She is also survived by one brother, Elwin Pwoers, a resident of
Memorial Home, Neillsville. Sixteen grandchildren and several nieces and nephews
also survive.
Funeral services were held Saturday, September 6 at the Methodist Church in
Withee. Interment was at Riverside Cemetery.
Officiating the services was Rev. H.W. Luetkehoelter.
Serving as pallbearers were Sabin Scherf, Walter Blunck, Bob Smasal, Lucius
Bowen, Roland Haire and Pierce Owens Jr.
