Lt. David Wirtala arrived here Wednesday of last week and is enjoying a 30-day
leave at the home of his mother and family. Dave recently earned his Wings with
the U.S. Navy at an air base at Beesville, Texas, and at the end of his leave
will report to Cherry Point, S.C. for further training.
H.J. Callaway returned Friday from Hayward, where eh had been for five days on a
business trip.
Rube Marquardt, former major league baseball pitcher and now of Abbotsford, was
in the city Friday and visited at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Jack Olds.
Sunday afternoon Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Wedding left for Rochester, Minn., where
Havey was to undergo tests the fore part of the week and then is scheduled for
surgery.
Toni Phillips of Oshkosh visited here over the weekend with her parents, Mr. and
Mrs. Russell Phillips.
Jim Barager came home Friday night from Madison to attend the O-W and Mosinee
football game. Saturday forenoon he and his brother Jack and Mr. and Mrs. J.R.
Barager returned to Madison, where they attended the Badger-Oklahoma game.
Mond evening Mr. and Mrs. H.J. Callaway drove their daughter Carol to Oregon,
where she spent the night with their son Cal and family. Early teus
Morning they drove into Madison, where Carol underwent laser beam surgery on her
had at the University Hospital.
Visiting her since Saturday is Mrs. Irene Callaway of Frederic. She is helping
her son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. HlJ. Callaway, out at the woodland
Hotel while they are in Madison with their daughter.
Mr. and Mrs. Paul Bladl Sr. spent last Sunday at the homes of Anna Zahradka and
Dick Eibergen in Granton. The families took in the Granton Fall Festival while
there.
Alan Burhop and Bob Erickson went to Green Bay last weekend to see the Packers
and Bears play.
Mr. and Mrs. Joe Zielinski spent the past weekend visited with Mr. and Mrs. Art
Leahy at Algoma, Wis. Accompanying them was Robbie Ruggles of Withee, who
visited with Bill and Tony Leahy.
Visiting at the James Barrett home over the weekend were their daughter Susie's
family, Mr. and Mrs. Cal Wery and children Chris and Sandy Sue of Green Bay.
Ray Purgett returned to his home from Rochester on Friday, where he had been
hospitalized.
