Monheim, Donald “Don” P. (7 DEC 1942 - 19 AUG 2017)

Donald “Don” P. Monheim, age 74, of Medford, passed away on Aug.19, 2017 at Colonial Care Center in Colby, where he had resided for the past seven months.

Funeral services will take place at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 26 at Hemer Funeral Home in Medford with military rites performed by the Medford area Military Honors Team. Father Phil Juza will officiate. Visitation will be held at Hemer Funeral Home in Medford from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 26. Interment of his cremated remains will take place at Lakeview Cemetery in Rib Lake at a later date.

Don was born on Dec. 7, 1942 in Medford to the late Violet Bertha (Miller) and Frank Joseph Monheim, Sr. He attended Rib River Elementary School in Rib Lake and was a 1960 graduate of Rib Lake High School. After his education, he served from 1965-1967 in the US Army, a veteran of the Vietnam War. After the service, he worked as an electrician in the Milwaukee area while residing in Pewaukee until his retirement. He then moved to the Town of Hammel and resided in the home he designed and built. He enjoyed tinkering, gambling trips with his sister Diane, roaming the Wisconsin countryside to destinations unknown of his choosing with his niece Theresa and great-nephew Max, travel and family visits. He was a member of IBEW Local union 494 in Milwaukee.

Don is survived by his sister, Diane Monheim of Madison; niece, Theresa (Bob) Lister; nephews, Butch (Marie), Will, David, Brian (JoAnne), Greg and Daniel Monheim; numerous great-nieces and great-nephews.

In addition to his parents, Don is preceded in death by his brothers, Frank Monheim, Jr., William Monheim; and a sister, Carol in infancy.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be given to either: Make-A-Wish America Gift Processing, 4742 N. 24th St., Suite 400, Phoenix, AZ 85016, Parkinson’s Disease Foundation, 1359 Broadway, Suite 1509, New York, NY 10018 or St. Croix Hospice of Eau Claire.
