Smith, John Thomas (25 June 1956 – 15 August 2017) With Flag
John Smith, age 61, of Granton, WI died Tuesday, August 15, 2017 at the Clark
County Rehabilitation and Living Center.
John Thomas Smith was born on June 25, 1956 in Cook County, IL the son of Bert
and Delores (Morrison) Smith. He served in the United States Marine Corps, was
united in marriage to Susan Johnson on February 29, 2008 in Neillsville and
worked as a welder.
In his spare time, John was an avid hunter and gun smith.
He is survived by his wife, Susan Rose Smith of Granton, three children, John T.
Smith II, Christopher R. Smith and Theresa M. Growski all of Milwaukee, WI, four
grandchildren, Nathan, Natalie, Valerie and Eli, his mother, Delores and
step-father, Jim, two sisters, Debbie Smith of Milwaukee and Tina Grottke of
Neillsville, his step-mother, Martha Smith of Neillsville, his aunts and uncles,
Ron and Gloria Smith, Joan and John Bielaga, James Annoreno, Sue Annoreno,
Donald and Maggie Smith, June Marie Santez, Bonnie and Tony Sandoval, a
brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Scott and Karen Johnson.
He was preceded in death by his father, Bert, a sister, Cindy and his
grandparents.
A private graveside service will be held on August 26, 2017 at the Dells Dam
Cemetery. Military honors will be performed by the Neillsville Veteran’s
Council.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, August 26th at the
Cozy Corner Tavern, Main Street, Black River Falls, WI.
