Neillsville American Legion post 73 honored Marcia Ziegler at its Aug. 7
meeting, after a recognition program for veterans Sandra Connell and Pete Ewing.
A nice crowd of family, friends and veterans enjoyed a wonderful potluck meal.
Ziegler has worked for over 18 years as the benefits specialist at the Clark
County Veterans Service Office. She is well deserving of this recognition for
the many veterans she has helped with benefits.
“I laughed, cried, and laughed some more with the veterans I helped,” Ziegler
said after receiving the Citation for Meritorious Service award. “They have a
special place in my heart.”
Many veterans and family members gave Ziegler a hug in appreciation for her
efforts.
She is married to Rick Ziegler. They live northwest of Neillsville, and have two
daughters, and three granddaughters.
During the business meeting, it was stated that members need to send in their
dues. The Post needs 217 members to obtain 100 percent participation.
New ladies’ Auxiliary officers were sworn in by past president Dorothy Henchen.
The roster is as follows: Karen Hoppa, president; Roni Kaiser-Smith, secretary;
Sylvia Hopfer, treasurer; Jo Ann Wren, 1st vice president; Dawn Arndt, 2nd vice
president; Alice Smith and Carol Oliver, Sergeant of Arms; Chris Patton,
chaplain; Cindy Simpson, membership; and Marilyn Slezak, historian.
