LaFlex, Iva M. (26 JUL 1932 – 20? AUG 2017)
I, Iva Marie LaFlex, was born July 26, 1932, at 11:45 p.m., in the Town of
Worden, rural Thorp, Wisconsin to Frank and Adeline (Anton) LaFlex. I was
baptized March 22, 1933, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, in the Town of Reseburg by
Rev. F. H. Sprengler. On August 12, 1944, Rev. F. H. Sprengler also confirmed me
at St. Paul Lutheran Church.
I grew up in the Thorp area attending school at Goff and Thorp Public Schools. I
graduated from Thorp High School on May 24, 1950, and enjoyed attending many
Thorp Alumni and Class Reunions.
August 9, 1952, I married Clifford E. Bloom in Minneapolis, Minnesota. We later
divorced.
I worked for Northwestern Bell Telephone Company in Minneapolis, Rochester, St.
Cloud and St. Paul, Minnesota. I worked in various positions including operator
and management. On March 1, 1986, I retired in St. Paul, Minnesota after 31
years of service.
On September 6, 1986, I moved to Stanley, WI. I was a volunteer at Victory
Memorial Nursing Home Stanley and St. Joseph's Hospital of Chippewa Falls. I
also volunteered at the Bethesda Thrift Shop in Eau Claire. I was a member of
Vacationland Council Telephone Pioneers of America Eau Claire and volunteered
with the Pioneers at many community events.
I was a member of Epiphany Lutheran Church, Stanley. « I served as Sunday School
and Confirmation Class Teacher, Altar Guild, custodian, President of Ladies Aid
LWML, Church Council Secretary, and was on the Finance Committee.
I was preceded in death by my parents, Frank and Adeline; brothers: Oliver,
Earl, Maynard and LeRoy; sisters: Phyllis Walde, Wenonah Weiss, Donetta Teclaw
and infant sister, Virginia; sisters-in-law Felicia, Callie and Omie;
brothers-in-law Louis Walde, Sidney Weiss and Malen Teclaw; and niece Holly
Weiss.
I am survived by one sister, Pat and husband Wayne Madison of Gilman, WI;
sister-in-law, Sharon LaFlex of Stanley, WI; special nieces and nephews: Denise
Madison, 1 Dan and Mary Madison, Tom and Anne Madison and family, and Tim
Madison. I am further survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Private family services will be held Thursday, August 24,2017, at the Thorp
Funeral Home. Burial will take place at Eastside Cemetery, Thorp, WI.
