COLBY – James Melvin Weber, 42, of Colby, was dead on arrival at 11:06 p.m.
Monday at Moline Public Hospital, Moline, Ill., of an apparent heart attack.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Colby. The
Rev. Raymond J. Padretti will officiate. Burial will be in St. Mary's Catholic
Cemetery.
Visitation at the Rux Funeral Home, Colby, will begin after 3 p.m. Thursday, and
until service time Friday. Tehre will be a rosary service at 8 p.m. Thursday in
the funeral chapel.
He was born August 19, 1940 in Dorchester (Clark Co., Wis.) to Mr. and Mrs.
Lawrence (Verna) Weber. He received his education at St. Mary's Parochial
School, Colby, and graduated from Colby High School in 1958. He worked at Meyer
Lumber of Dorchester, and also for Spencer Pathfinder Trailer Homes.
He served with the Wisconsin National Guard and took his basic training at Fort
Dix, N.J. He was then self-employed on the home farm, route 2, Colby. He was on
the ASCS Soil Conservation Board of Clark County at the time of his death. He
was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and its church council, of which he
held various positions. He was presently president of St. Mary's School Board of
Education.
He married Carol Blume June 13, 1964 at Marathon City. She survives along with
six sons: Richard of Fort Dix., N.J. Peter, Kevin, Mark, Neal and David, all at
home; his mother, Mrs. Lawrence (Verna) Weber of Holcombe; his maternal
grandmother, Mrs. Peter (Goldie) Schumacher of Corchester, and the following
brothers and sisters, Mrs. Raymond (Mary Lou) Perry of…..(the rest of my article
