Unity, July 28, 1933 – Funeral services were conducted at the Methodist Church
here yesterday afternoon for Peter Fritz, 69, who died Sunday at his home near
Melfort, Saskatchewan, Canada. Burial took place in the town of Beaver Cemetery,
with the Rev. S.E. Bushendorf officiating.
Mr. Fritz's death followed an accident which occurred on July 12, when he fell
while working in his barn, and suffered injuries to the hip and shoulder. Death
was ascribed to heart failure.
He was born on a farm near Nenno on May 22, 1864, and spent his boyhood there,
later coming to Unity (Clark Co., Wis.), where he was engaged in farming and the
lumber business until 1912, when he moved to Canada.
Mrs. Fritz died on March 2, 1906, and two sons also preceded him in death. Four
daughters and two sons and 14 grandchildren survived him. The children are: Mrs.
Herbert Liepert, Melfort, Canada; Mrs. C.Y. Davey, Los Angeles, California; Mrs.
R.A. Stormont, Rockford, Ill.; Miss Lila Fritz, Rockford; and Leo and Theodore,
Hudson Bay Junction, Canada.
