Buel, Gilbert (1915? – 27 JUL 1933)
Loyal, July 27 1933 – Death followed a night of dancing for Gilbert Buel, 18,
2on of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Buel, farmer living near here (Loyal, Clark Co.,
Wis.).
Buel died shortly after 2 a.m. this morning as he was being rushed to the Colby
Clinic after the automobile he was riding in crashed into a ditch on Highway K,
north of here.
With Buel was Paul Wolf, another Loyal farm youth, who escaped without serious
injury. He was discharged from the clinic at Colby this morning after physicians
had satisfied themselves that his injuries were not dangerous.
The two boys were returning from a dance at Oakwood, two miles north of
Riplinger, when the crash occurred. There were no other witnesses. They were
found at the scene of the wreck by Mr. and Mrs. Otto Rossow, Loyal, who were
also returning from the dance.
District Attorney Hugh Haight of Clark County, and Chief of Police Gorman Cody,
Colby, conducted an investigation of the affair at the scene of the wreck this
morning, and planned a hearing at Colby this afternoon.
Buel was born at Loyal, where his parents have been engaged in farming for many
years. Funeral arrangements have not been completed.
