Trunkel, Virginia (22 JUN 1941 – 21 MAR 1982)

NEILLSVILLE – Mrs. John (Virginia) Trunkel, 40, of 1710 Black River Road, Neillsville (Clark Co., Wis.), died at 6:25 a.m. Sunday at St. Joseph's Hospital in Marshfield, where she had been admitted March 10. Death followed a lingering illness.

Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Calvary Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Paul Forde officiating. Burial will be in the Neillsville Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Donald Thimmesch, Tom Hasmer, Dennis Golomski, Jerry Pfeiffer, Wally Anderson and Dave Vradenberg.

Friends may call from 5 – 9 p.m. Tuesday, and until 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Gesche Funeral Home, and then at the church until time of services.

The former Virginia Cairo was born June 22, 1941 in Chicago to Mr. and Mrs. August (Violet Quitman) Cairo, and received her education there. She worked for Jewell Food Stores in Chicago, and was married June 25, 1960 to John Trunkel, who survives.

She continued employment in Chicago until the couple came to Neillsville in 1969. In 1973 they purchased J & V Superette on Neillsville's north side. She had also been employed by several restaurants and Sunburst Youth Homes.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by three sons, Joseph, Ronald and James, all at home.

She was predeceased by her parents.

The family has suggested that memorials be made to the American Cancer Society.
