Emmerich, Voila O. (Hurtienne) (15 MAR 1917 - 30 AUG 2017)

Voila O. Emmerich, 100, a former Medford resident, passed away on Wednesday, August 30 at Clark Co. Rehab & Living Center, Owen, where she had resided for the past 2 years.

Funeral services will be held Friday, September 1 at Immanuel Ev. Lutheran Church, Medford, with Pastor James Krueger officiating. Interment will be at Medford Evergreen Cemetery II.

Visitation will be at Immanuel Ev. Lutheran Church, Medford from 9 AM until the time of services at 11 AM on Friday, September 1. Pallbearers will be her 6 grandchildren.

Viola was born on March 15, 1917, at Medford, to August and Alvina (Sommers) Hurtienne. She attended Medford area schools. On June 2, 1945, at Immanuel Ev. Lutheran Church, Medford, Viola was married to Arthur L. Emmerich. He preceded her in death on June 3, 1994.

She clerked at the Medford A & P Store and the Medford Co-op Store for 25 years until her retirement. In her retirement, she worked at the Little Store in downtown Medford. She enjoyed fishing, camping, quilting, sewing, spending time at the cabin on Long Lake, and her grandchildren. Viola was a member of Immanuel Ev. Lutheran Church, Medford and the Ladies of Immanuel.

She is survived by her children, Perry (Gloria) Emmerich of Medford, Ronda (Steve Axtman) Emmerich of Medford, Nona (Gene) Halopka of Medford; 6 grandchildren Travis Emmerich, Tasha Hernandez, Chris (Larissa) Hartl, Tracy (Rick) Dowden, Shane (Tara) Halopka, Kerry (Samantha) Halopka; and 6 great grandchildren.

Viola is predeceased by her parents, August and Alvina (Sommers) Hurtienne; siblings Myrtle Emmerich, Pearl Balciar and Ruth Hurtienne in her youth.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be given to the Ladies of Immanuel, C/O Immanuel Ev. Lutheran Church, Medford.
