Mayer, Susan (Marriage – 3 August 1974)
Miss Susan Mayer and Lynn Luchterhand exchanged marriage vows Saturday, August
3, in a 1:30 p.m. ceremony performed at St. John’s Catholic Church, Marshfield.
The Rev. Robert Houston of St. Stephen’s Catholic Church, Chili, officiated,
with the Rev. George Passehl of St. John’s as co-celebrant. The homily was given
by the Rev. William Humlie of Trinity Lutheran Church, Loyal.
A reception was held in St. John’s school hall.
The bride, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jerome Mayer, Rt. 1 Chili, was presented
in marriage by her father. Mr. and Mrs. Orville Luchterhand, Rt. 1 Granton, are
the groom’s parents.
A traditional bridal gown fashioned with a bodice of Chantilly lace and a
bouffant skirt of chiffon over taffeta was chosen by the former Miss Mayer. Her
fingertip veil was held by a headpiece of lace. She carried a colonial bouquet
of pink roses and white daisies with baby’s breath.
Miss Jolene Bjornstad, Cashton, was the maid-of-honor. Bridesmaids were Misses
Sally and Shirley Mayer of Chili, Miss Kathy Fleisner of Racine, and mrs. Jerome
Krause of Spencer. Bouquets of pastel daisies, and baby’s breath complimented
their empire style gowns of pastel green, pink, blue, yellow, and lilac dotted
Swiss.
The groom’s attendants included Tom Luchterhand, Anchorage, Alaska, as best man
and Ed Schultz of Spencer, Mike Luchterhand of Granton, Allen Meyer of Chili,
and Jerome Krause of Spencer as groomsmen. Guests were seated by Tony Mayer,
Chili, and Gary Luchterhand, Loyal.
Kevin Houston, Wisconsin Rapids, was the ring bearer and Shari Mayer, Chili, the
miniature bride.
The organist was Kathy Rachke and the soloist was Wendy Brandt.
The bride was honored at prenuptial showers hosted by Patsy Krause, June
Schecklman, and Jolene Bjornstad.
A 1970 graduate of Marshfield Senior High School and a 1974 graduate of Midstate
Technical School, Stevens Point, the new Mrs. Luchterhand is employed as an LPN
at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Marshfield. Her husband graduated from Loyal High
School in 1969, and is engaged in farming.
They will live on Rt. 1 Granton, following their return from a wedding trip to
the Black Hills.
